We love that we get monthly feedback about our kids' progress at Sylvan. That is a lot more feedback that at their current public schools. I also appreciate the flexibility of the staff to allow my daughter to work on school homework with them once a week so it not a painful struggle for the parents at home. The data they provide is all very straightforward and tracking their progress is super easy to follow.

My son has been going to Sylvan for tutoring for the last month and a half. In his recent assessment at school he has gone up a whole grade level. The teacher was very impressed! He was very excited to tell us. He feels very encouraged and has built his confidence.

Sylvan is a great place for both students who are behind in their grade level and those who would like to get ahead. The problem with getting too ahead though is aligning the curriculum with a public school education where the child will continue to learn material at their academic grade level. What’s nice about Sylvan is the monthly reports to understand how your child is doing. They are very good about redirecting focus in problem area sooner than you even notice at their primary school setting. My kids enjoy Sylvan a lot.
Anthony Thomas. Anthony is what makes Sylvan Piedmont great and why we are there. He is thoughtful about his recommendations and takes the time to explain what programs your child could benefit from. He is also flexible and makes sure it is a pleasant experience for both the kids AND parents.
Sylvan of Castro Valley has been very gracious and kind to allow my son (who has social disability) to receive tutoring lessons despite the fact that he is already 25. We very much appreciate that someone cares enough for my son to do well and pass his Math class. Today, he is doing very well and has been getting the help that he needs. His tutor is really patient and kind and he is learning a lot and able to follow his Math class well. I am grateful for Sylvan has been a blessing.
Our daughter has been going to Sylvan for 3 years now,Freshman, Sphonore and now Junior years in HS. She has consistently attended one hour per week, mostly focusing on math. We love the level of expertise and knowledge base the tutors are required to have. She gets to work with the same tutor each week which is very helpful. Her grades in math have stayed in the B and B+ area, great progress for her as she is dyslexic and some subjects take longer to catch onto. We prepaid all the hours she caould ever need and if and when she needs more than one hour per week, the staff will step up and work her in. We’re very satisfied with the high quality support she receives at Sylvan and recommend it to any child for expert support in any subject.
