Mathnasium in Burlingame helped our son with his specific areas of focus he needed in Math. He already was a decent math student but we knew he had much more potential. We noticed he has some bad habits like not showing his work and going too fast. There were also certain math skills that he was fuzzy on. The tutors at Mathnasium helped him improve drastically in these areas. He scored several levels higher on the yearly standardized math assessment test. He likes math even more now. He liked all the tutors he had there. I would definately recommend this to friends. It is not a painful experience for your child like I hear Kumon is. It is actually a really empowering and fun environment.
I think one element that should be added is to set a speed goal so kids do more worksheets in a certain amount of time. Since tutors are working with few kids at a time, kids may not focus while they are on their own so a time goal may help.
