Our child (age 14) is finding this a very worthwhile experience. We appreciate that Mathnasium uses pencil and paper rather than typed communications; this method of teaching seems to stick better in the child's brain for some reason. The Santa Monica Mathnasium is well managed and concerns about billing, timing, and other issues have been promptly and carefully addressed. The emphasis on deep understanding of the mathematical process will be very helpful to child, and is enjoyable for him.
Kelly Kim, the center’s director, provided a thorough evaluation of my son before joining the program. She manages the center well by making sure students and tutors are listening to one another, a positive learning experience.

We only signed up for one month last summer and Hannah really didn’t want to go, however when the month was up she actually pleaded to continue going!

It’s covinient, the times we can take our son to get help. Most son fills good going, he likes going.
It’s very comforting to know there is help when you need it.
If you think you have problems with the day lesson, just go there from school and don’t stress.

My son has had a great experience at Mathnasium so far. I did not think him capable of 1. wanting to go, 2. being able to sit and focus and, 3. learning so much so fast. He's a very active kid but in that environment, he is consistently inspired in a positive way. I really like the flexibility of dropping in during open hours, it makes it realistic for our schedules which seem constantly in motion (much like our children).Thank you!
Mathnasium changed my daughter's outlook and confidence about math. She always had a lot of attention and felt very comfortable with her instructors, no matter who they were. I also appreciated the assessments and communication about my child's progress and areas to focus on.

We are monitoring the progress of the 4th grade student we have entered at Mathanasium. He has made progress but we will not know definitely until the end of the semester.
The staff are friendly but it can be difficult for them to monitor all of the students because it gets very busy in the after school hours.

The director, Kelly Kim, goes above and beyond to make families feel welcome and hopeful in their efforts to improve their child’s math skills.
Our daughter has had a good experience with Mathnasium, so far. Motivating her to go has been challenging, but once she has completed a session, she feels a sense of accomplishment. I think her confidence in her math skills has improved, though we probably need to ramp up her attendance in order to get more results.
It would be great if there were more female instructors...for so many different reasons. No knocks against the male instructors, but I think girls are inspired by young women and it also sends the message that girls/women ARE good at math. Lastly, just a suggestion, but maybe mixing up the prizes a bit more would inspire more enthusiasm/excitement from the kids. I know you try to keep them fairly gender neutral, but going outside those boundaries might be motivating.
