This has been a great experience. Within the first month we have seen improvement in our sons math grade at school.
My daughter loves going to Mathnasium. She will even ask me to take her. She loves to interact with all the different teachers, which I like too. It gives her different perspectives of math and teaching. She loves the prizes, as well. I can see a big difference in her grades. I mean tremendous amount of difference. She understands and is exceeding a lot more in math.

My son Ethan just started this year and so far he likes it.
Around 5th grade, my son didn't understand some basic math concepts. Once the foundation became unstable, his math grades started declining. His teachers said he wasn't listening and made him uncomfortable asking for help. He came to hate math class and was failing by the end of 8th grade. We took him to summer classes at Mathnasium. The testing they did helped identify where his math train fell off the rails. He says the teachers are very nice and caring and he feels comfortable asking them questions. We wish we had started coming here years ago.

My wife and I home school our children through the eighth grade. Math has been a bit of an obstacle for two of my sons, hanging them up a bit at approximately the 10 yr old level. My oldest son hit this issue while I was deployed to Afghanistan in 2003. Mathnasium was able to provide an effective alternative to help him push past his issues. I think the option of multiple techniques combined with a "rewards" process and some really helpful and intuitive teachers/instructors really made the difference for him. He decided that math was actually fun and quickly got past the frustration and intimidation that he was experiencing from his primary curriculum. I was really grateful as a deployed soldier, so far from home and unable to help him, that Mathnasium could make such a difference. The dynamics of the program were obviously effective; as proven by his improved attitude and aptitude for math. He is now a sophomore at Anderson Co. High School and is interested in pursuing a degree in engineering. I have no doubt that his ease and comfort with math has greatly influenced his confidence regarding potential career choices.
My middle son is now ten years old and is struggling in much the same way that my oldest son did. He has been enrolled at Mathnasium now for approximately one month and already seems much more at ease and capable with math. I'm looking forward to seeing the results on his next annual testing cycle; he scored pretty low in math during the last testing cycle. He's a bright kid, just needed to find a way to direct his focus toward math in a healthy way. I can already tell that Mathnasium is helping to accomplish exactly that. It is definitely a program that I would (and already have) recommend to friends and family.
Both of my boys have struggled with math since around 6th grade. One is now a rising 8th grader and the other is a rising 10th grader. The older one pretty much gave up on math his ninth grade year. Somehow, at the private school where he was going, he managed a B on his report card. My husband and I knew that was NOT an indicator of his math knowledge. We knew we had to get help for him in order for him to be ready for 10th grade. Our younger boy has not struggled as much as the older in math, but he also was a bit behind in skill level for his grade. Both boys were TERRIFIED of going to Mathnasium and were pretty angry at us for insisting that they go. After the first session, I was astounded to hear each of them say, "That was actually fun!" As sessions continue, they continue to have the same opinion. The main thing that they tell me after every session is that the teachers are very "nice" and "don't get angry" if they don't understand how to work a problem. Deciding to use Mathnasium has become one of the BEST education decisions we have made for our children.
When we left my daughter told me that it was fun and she wanted to go back.

My daughter's confidence in math had been undermined by a less than effective teacher. After a few weeks at Mathnasium her grade improved rapidly and her confidence was restored.
Mathnasium has helped both of our children who were having problems in high school honors Math classes. It is a wonderful place to find support, assistance, and a welcoming atmosphere.
