In just a few short weeks Mathnadium has given my 8 year old daughter the confidence to tackle her math problems because she is now equipped with the formula that would enable her to figure it out on her own. She went from tears of frustration and would cringe when it was time to do her homework to this 'math confident' little girl. Now she says math is her favorite subject. She loves going to our Mathnasium center, as soon as she enters she is greeted by the staff by name and a big hello, she logs herself into the laptop for attendance and grabs her work binder and plops down at a table as if she were at home. She warms up with a quick thinking card game like Spotify, connect 4 or chess with a staff member and then she opens her binder and picks up working where she left off. The staff are fantastic and young and great with kids. They assist when needed and walk away so that she can work problems out on her own. The owner is wonderful and my daughter usually can not wait to show her the test scores she's receiving now because of Mathnasium.
What really makes Mathnasium work in my opinion, is the initial assessment, it is an hour long and it identifies weak areas. The work binder is then comprised of those areas even if the weak areas are many grade levels behind that is where they start and your child's work grows from there. That fills in the basic gaps and the constant practice is key with patient instructors for guidance. Of course the friendly, comfortable environment is great and non-intimidating for younger children and really gives them a "math is fun and cool" feeling. I could go on and on. We were given a Mathnasium shirt and every time it is worn to the center my daughter gets a stamp and stamps add up to small prizes and it just makes the whole experience positive and rewarding on so many levels. Thank you Mathnasium from concept to completion, it works!
