The staff seem to be very skilled in working with children and I love the convenience and flexibility that Mathnasium provides. Though we are new to Mathnasium, my daughter leaves feeling proud of what she has accomplished each time.
I love to see my grandson, Jakie, working on his math problems for an hour and then socializing and playing games with the other boys and girls for up to another hour. Perfect combination with wonderful staff to help him.

We have a thirteen year old 7th grader who has struggled with math forever. No matter how many afterschool math classes we subscribed her to, her grades in math continuously teetered between “C-“ and “D”. My husband and I were becoming increasingly concerned that our daughter was falling further and further behind in class, which she had now come to detest, and that this was affecting her self-esteem.
I researched a number of math programs and after speaking with Susan and Ruben (co-owners of the North Bethesda Mathnasium) I was impressed with the customized and hands-on approach to learning that they presented. This, and the fact that they were running a special, clinched the deal and I decided to give it a try for a month! I took my daughter in for an evaluation which pin-pointed her primary weaknesses (and believe me there were many).
The environment is incredibly positive and friendly and the instructors tailor their teaching to each child’s personality. Noticing that my daughter is extremely shy (afraid to raise her hand for fear of asking a question that could be perceived as silly or dumb), they proactively ask her if she has questions. According to my daughter, early on, one instructor asked her what her favorite subjects were, to which she replied reading and writing. Since then, the instructor helps her conceptualize more complicated math concepts through quick stories. Not only are they helping her to understand concepts that she needs to master to fulfill her 7th grade curriculum, but they’re also helping her master earlier concepts that she couldn’t quite grasp. I don’t know how they’re doing it, but I can tell you that my daughter actually looks forward to going to Mathnasium (4 times a week after school – including Saturdays-- and believe me…no whining at all)! Less than 3 months in and we’ve notice a marked improvement in her attitude toward math. Last week her math teacher congratulated her for the improvement in her grades (she’s proudly come home with of B’s and A’s on quizzes) Hurray!!!
Our daughter is happy, gaining confidence and definitely in this for the long-haul.

I saw the tutors were friendly, patience, and have good techniques to convey the idea to solve some math problems to my child.

Well all of the staff there are very helpful and I also think that with the treats for the Kids make them work harder to finish there work and earn the gift or treat also the staff there explain to the children very well and now improving in school.
